She has led the Alliance for Health Equity for the past six years and has worked tirelessly with hospitals to embrace collective approaches to advancing equity, confronting racism, taking action on data-driven community solutions for people experiencing homelessness and lack of healthy food access, and more. Throughout a decade of leadership at IPHI, Jess has built many collaborative and impactful relationships with partners across health care, public health, community organizations, and advocacy groups not only on health topics but in housing, food systems, mental health, violence, built environment, and more. She brings deeply held values related to equity and inclusion and melds those values with a collaborative leadership style, strategic planning, and practical implementation skills. We are pleased to celebrate a big milestone with Jess Lynch – 10 years at IPHI and counting! Jess is the program director in IPHI’s Center for Community Capacity Development, where she leads the work of the Alliance for Health Equity (AHE). “Having the opportunity to build new projects and partnerships for health equity alongside Laurie and the team is one of the highlights of my career in public health so far.Ĭelebrating Jess Lynch’s 10th Anniversary at IPHI 🥳 We are so fortunate to have her leadership in the Center for Community Capacity Development – I have grown and learned so much with her support and guidance,” said program director Jess Lynch. “Laurie is a wonderful colleague and mentor to me and many others at IPHI. “We are so proud to have had her on our team for all these years and look forward to many more.”

“No matter who she is working with, Laurie not only shares her expertise, she also elicits and builds on the assets and experiences of the people she is supporting to enrich and deepen their experience and skills,” said IPHI’s CEO, Elissa Bassler. Over Laurie’s fifteen years at IPHI, she has garnered the deep respect of an incredible network of partners across Illinois and the nation – from small rural communities to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and beyond. Laurie has worked on hundreds of community health improvement and strategic planning initiatives with local and state health departments, hospitals, and community coalitions trained and facilitated public health leaders to improve quality developed tools, resources and guides for the field and built a reputation as a go-to leader for building capacity within the public health system. Laurie has built the Center for Community Capacity Development from a one-person shop to a team of ten strong and creative staff serving the Chicago area, Illinois, and the country.
